La vie en Place des Vosges
This apartment owes me nothing. It has been an incredibly happy base for us and the place where I raised my daughter from the age of two. We enrolled her at the wonderful École Massillon nearby, built our lives around this part of Paris and made a lot of very happy memories here.
But now it’s time for pastures new - somewhere that fits the next chapter of my life a little better.
All will be revealed…
In the meantime, the 11th is 🔥 - in a good way.
The Row just crowned my home arrondissement with their new Paris office like many other fashion brands.
So here goes; we now have a rather special two-bedroom property on the edge of Place des Vosges looking for its next owner.
I’M SELLING MY HOME IN THE 11TH WITH A HEAVY HEART
By Susie Hollands
REVOLUTION
Built in 1789 - and I’m still wondering who thought construction near the Bastille was a good idea that year - the apartment has retained all the character you’d hope for from an 18th-century Paris home: incredible original beams, great volumes, wonderful views and a working fireplace.
The open-plan living and dining room is flooded with natural light, with views across the Paris rooftops and all the way to the golden Génie de la Liberté atop the Colonne de Juillet at Bastille. There’s room to dine with eight, and the kitchen is fully integrated into the living space, making it a genuinely lovely apartment for entertaining. There have been many, many parties!
The principal bedroom is exceptionally quiet and bright, with two large windows overlooking classic Parisian rooftops and a charming church. The second bedroom enjoys the same peaceful courtyard outlook
PLACE DES VOSGES
And then there’s the address. Place des Vosges, the Marais, its boutiques and restaurants, and some of Paris’s greatest landmarks are all on your doorstep. It has been an extraordinary place to live, which is precisely why saying goodbye isn’t quite so easy.
There is also an interesting investment angle. The apartment is owned through a company and has a profitable rental business that I have built up over the years. There is the possibility of acquiring it as a structured package, inheriting the established rental activity and its healthy return of around 6% - particularly interesting in a Paris market where yields generally hover at just under 4%.
Depending on the structure and the buyer’s circumstances, this may also offer advantages in relation to acquisition costs, which we can explain in more detail to interested parties.
